Diocesan Synodal Pathway

Rebuild My Church
St. Francis of Assisi was praying before the Crucifix in the Church of San Damiano when he heard Jesus speak to him from the Cross: “Francis, go and Rebuild my Church which is falling down.” It seems that the Church at the time was in a bad way. The “little man” (Poverello) went to see the Pope. Against all the odds, the Pope met him.
That night the Pope had a dream and saw the little man St. Francis with St. Peter’s Bascilica on his shoulders, and gave Francis and his followers his blessing – the start of the Francisan order, and the rebuilding of the Church.
Like St. Francis, our Pope wants to rebuild our Church from the bottom up. He needs our help – he wants us to walk with him on the
Synodal Pathway – all journeying together, respecting each others views, listening to one another, sharing our feelings and concerns for our Church and above all being guided by the Holy Spirit. Recently I was going to Balgriffin for a funeral. It is now surrounded by beautiful homes. For many years there were just the foundations, looking forlorn and sad – they have become vibrant with houses and apartments.
A good example of how I hope the Synod will bring life and vitality to our Church
Every parish is asked to meet, share dreams and visions for our Church, guided by the Holy Spirit – but not just every Parish, Every Person.
Our Parish meeting is on Tuesday 22nd March at 8pm in our Parish Centre.
Please come and help us all to rebuild our Church, guided by the Holy Spirit.
If you can’t come, perhaps you might fill in the sheets with the questions that can be found in the church on how you think we might rebuild our Church. Alternatively, you can complete the online form below and click submit.
Perhaps too you might encourage others, especially those on the periphery to give us their views on our Church.
